The Women’s Law Association of Ontario General Counsel Chapter Award

The Women’s Law Association of Ontario (WLAO) – General Counsel Chapter Award is an annual award, introduced in 2015, that recognizes a woman General Counsel for her leadership and sustained commitment to advancing women in law, particularly through her contributions to the General Counsel community in Ontario. The WLAO working together with WGCC celebrate one of their members by awarding them the General Counsel Chapter Award at the WLAO’s Annual Award Gala.

The WGCC President’s Award

This Award is presented annually at the Annual General Meeting by the WGCC President & Chair. The WGCC President’s Award recognizes a member of the WGCC Board who, in the prior calendar year, best exemplified the spirit and vision of WGCC through their active contributions and dedication to the advancement of WGCC and leadership excellence. The recipient must demonstrate a commitment to the promotion of women in the law and be recognized as a leader. Encompassing the ideals of WGCC, the recipient of the President’s Award will be engaged, aware and connected to issues, substantive and personal, facing women in the legal profession today and will have illuminated WGCC vision, mission and values through their overall contributions to WGCC.

Celebrating trailblazing women General Counsel for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of women GCs across Canada.

This annual award honours a General Counsel, Chief Legal Officer, or equivalent senior legal leader who exemplifies excellence in the legal profession, demonstrates a strong commitment to ethical practice, and meaningfully advances women within the legal community. The award also recognizes active involvement in WGCC and a demonstrated commitment to mentorship, advocacy, collaboration, and inclusion.

Each year, this award is announced and presented at the Canadian General Counsel Awards (CGCA) Gala.
